Twosome: Turbo Broiler and Triple Chocolate Cake

It is known by many names in different parts of the world such as turbo broiler, turbo boiler, halogen oven, light-wave oven, convection oven or plain cooker, but they all follow one principle in life and that is to cook your food by means of air circulation.

It’s advantages include energy savings because foods are supposedly cooked faster than conventional ovens as well as allow an even cooking because air is heating up the foods in every direction thanks to the fan attached to the lid.

In my case, I just love it for the fact that I don’t want to use our old oven at home so I convinced my mom to buy this instead by telling her that crispy pata is possible with this cooker minus the flying hot oil and heart problems. :)

So this is my Fukuda turbo broiler (looked like a spaceship, don’t you think?) which we bought last Friday for only 2,700 pesos at SM City Cebu.

I was hoping that mom will buy the Imarflex brand which cost almost 5,000 pesos because it’s the best there is but mom has a soft heart for industrious salesman. I mean, you can’t really trust salesman because they will push for that one particular brand that gives them a lot of incentives but since mom is IN sales too, she doesn’t mind being convinced to go to the dark side at all by pushy salesman which in this case, the choice for my broiler. :(

Aside from my turbo, I also bought several wooden spoons just to reach a total balance of 3,000 pesos (46 pounds) because East West credit card currently offers free cake from red ribbon if cardholders shop ANYWHERE with a minimum single receipt of 3,000 pesos.

Why wooden spoons? According to my special source, wooden spoons have been used since 1259 or earlier than that even and casualties due to bacteria formation in wooden spoons are nothing compared to those in plastic and metallic utensils. Yay.

I love my wrong brand turbo and I love my triple chocolate cake.
