Walking the Aisle in Blue

I seriously think I’m too old to be a bridesmaid but blood is thicker than water so after texting my waist, bust and length of waist to feet measurement, I’ve been dreading the day that I’ll finally get to walk down the aisle again.

Renting wedding gowns is a lot cheaper than having it tailor-made for the entire entourage. Last minute walk practice and dress rehearsals are unheard of in most weddings I’ve attended so I didn’t know what my gown looks like until the wedding day. The thing about rental dresses is that they are made of cheap material and is designed to be “free size”. The top is basically just a piece of cloth that covers the front with laces at the back only to close it like that of shoelaces. As for the skirt, it comes with several clips to fit several waistline sizes and I’m glad I brought my sandals with 2-inches of heel or you would think that my gown comes with a train all around.

There were supposed to be 200 guests invited but there were only less than 50 people in total. So if you wanted to have a wedding and avoid gatecrashers, you might want to set it on December 29 and in a place far away from home like in a small town that’s 2 hours away from the city like what my cousin did. :)

Anyway, pictures below…

01 – Birthday Card

I thought to feature SOME cards I’ve received. Cards may include postcards, greeting cards, holiday cards, whatever.

One of my favorite hang-out place is actually NATIONAL BOOKSTORE and while prancing around the place, I saw this card and loved it so much that I bought it immediately. Then I brought it to work and asked friends to sign their birthday greetings to me on this card. Yes, I spearheaded my own birthday greetings because I don’t want them to forget to send me greetings. Also because I’m such a very helpful, forceful and nagging woman. :)

I love this card because inside it says…

“Happy Birthday from our little group, strange and wonderful as it may be.”

Can you read the people’s greetings??? One of my friends joked that “I hope you will be using ORIGINAL already instead of VIBRATOR”. For the record, I don’t have a vibrator. At least not anymore. Nyahahaha.

CNT Lechon – Filipino’s Main Dish

Most often than not, lechon is the main star in Filipino’s party and in Cebu, best lechon is synonymous with the name CNT.

For this holiday, we thought of ordering one whole pig which cost for as low as 3000 pesos depending on the size of the pig but CNT unfortunately had to cancel our order because due to the typhoon we had recently, pigs got stranded in Negros island. Good news for the pigs, bad news for the lechon-starved people.

Since festivity for us is not complete without a lechon, we have no choice but to wait for hours at CNT restaurant located near SM City Cebu Mall and buy it in kilo which cost about 390 pesos per kilo (7 euro per kilo). We were feeling a bit deprived and can’t wait to reach our house so we bought a few puso (rice wrapped in coconut leaves) that cost 6 pesos (0.1 Euro) and decided to dine-in instead.

Lechon is best eaten the Filipino way which is cutlery-free and in less than 5 minutes, the plates are empty. No such thing as talking socially when we eat other than to say, “order more puso”.

P.S. CNT sells pig’s head at 270 pesos per head (4.7 Euro) and they could have it deboned for you free of charge. :)

Goat’s Head for Christmas Dinner

I have this grand idea of cooking a delicious pasta for Christmas but as soon as mom heard about my plan, she said, “NOOOOOOOOO, don’t cook anything for the holidays”.

I figure that she wants to be well and alive still to celebrate 2012 New Year’s Eve so I gave in to her pleas. I stayed away from the kitchen as requested. Besides, there are lots of foods in the refrigerator and I wanted to cook only when my dishes have zero competitors.

For Christmas eve dinner though, I got tired of waiting so I sneaked into the kitchen when everybody was out busy talking to guests and this is what I saw… 2 goat’s head that’s all set to be placed in the cauldron!

And that’s how I lost my appetite and went to bed early on an empty stomach!

2011 Holiday Greetings from Love2Type

What’s your idea of a fun and happy Christmas celebration?

A colleague shared how fun their Christmas tradition was because mother would be hiding money all over the house from 20 pesos bill to 500 pesos bill.  And when relatives / families came over, everyone had a great time eating  meals together and then going on a search misson for the paper bills.  The house was a complete wreck afterwards as expected but the thrill of being part of this amazing race is priceless and worthy of the mess.

We don’t have this tradition in our family but I think this is a splendid idea to adopt too in our home.

Anyway, as 2011 is about to close, I’d like to say thank you to all the bloggers I’ve come to know from different parts of the world. I feel blessed to learn a thing or two from your blogs so here’s me, wishing….
