I’m Married?!@

Due to possible future travel plans, I’m back to gathering documents again to meet the requirements like Birth Certificate and Certificate of No Marriage aka CENOMAR to prove my singleness.

There are lots of ways to get CENOMAR nowadays and lazy me applied for it online via E-Census because I don’t feel like falling in line. The difference is that I have to pay about 200 pesos more because documents will be delivered in the address I have specified via local courier like LBC.

When I checked the status of my request online, it says:

At least one record of marriage was found for this person.
An Advisory of Marriage will be delivered to you

HUH? Am I that senile that I forgot that I was already married???

After 4 working days, I received my CENOMAR and guess what? It registered my own sister’s marriage.  So, I had to make a long distance phone call at Unisys Public Sector Services Corporation Office in Quezon City with telephone number (632) 981 – 7700 and I was told to scan the cenomar I received for verification.  After a few minutes, I received this email from them:

Dear Ms. Charlotte:

Our operations has coordinated this with our processing center, and after verification, it was found that the error occurred at their end. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this incident has caused at your end.

Your CENOMAR request is already for re-processing. Our operations will receive the document result from our processing center this afternoon, October 9, 2012/Tuesday. This will be included in the batch of requests for dispatch tomorrow, October 10/Wednesday.

Thank you.

  1. What a pain! Still, we need a central registration of marriages like that in the US. My (now-ex) husband was able to commit bigamy because marriages are only documented at the county level!
