Self-Studying German for Goethe’s A1 Exam

I have a Deutsch A1 language exam to pass soon (exact date will be a secret for now in case I will fail, :P ) and this is a huge pressure for me because it cost a lot of money and I don’t have a lot of time to study really since I’m working full time still so I can afford the exam fees, et al.

My resources includes Miteinander by Hueber, German Conversation by Coggle & Schenke, available internet sites that I can find like youtube, German-Grammar.de, Deutsch Kurse, Deutsch Warum Nicht, and all German speaking people that I can find / annoy including my man.

Looking at Goethe’s sample exam, it is NOT that easy as I first assumed it would be.  All in all, I have concluded that knowing MORE is always better and that Übung macht den MEISTER (practice makes perfect).

Here are some things that I’m focusing on:

1. Self-Introduction.
2. Learn to write & talk about my life, daily activities, hobbies, work, family and friends.
3. Learn to write invitations / letters.
4. Listen to as many German audios that I can find.
5. Learn to ask and answer questions.
6. Learn at least 10 new words per day!!! Make German – English Dictionary as my new bestfriend.

Goethe Exam is held on a regular basis in Manila but only three times in CEBU. I don’t know how I will fare on this test but there’s only one way to find out, TAKE THE TEST!

I just hope that I will NOT Sh!t in my pants or fall asleep. After all, I’ll be traveling to the airport as early as 2 Freaking AM so that I will not miss my Manila bound flight!

Ah! LIFE sure brings forth many surprising gifts.  I wouldn’t have thought that I’ll be learning German a few years back!

Anyway, I’ve been writing sentences for the past days now and this one got a NEARLY PERFECT score.

  1. Woow’ good luck Karlota—!I’ll be taking that course as well (but it will be Dutch language for me), planning to take exam by early next year; good thing that there’s language school right down on the bldg I’m working on. Which school will you be in?

  3. Hi, you don’t capitalize “Ich” but write it “ich” instead (unless it’s at the beginning of a sentence). it’s not like in English, where you always have to write it in capital letters, no matter when. :-)
Your German sentences sound good already.

  6. Hallo!!..,

    • why bother taking an exam if there’s no need to pass it at all? Of course it needs to be passed so you can get a certificate from Goethe which in turn you will submit to the embassy. Please read all my related posts on Goethe for tips here: http://love2type.wordpress.com/tag/goethe/

Or please check website of Goethe Institut since they provide three sample exercises that is similar to actual exam.
