Money and Gift

A teammate will be celebrating birthday and people were thinking of what gift to buy. I was reminded of my nephew who gave my sister a birthday card with lots of hugs and kisses for her birthday and wondered why we have to spend money on gifts. Maybe I was just being a cheapskate but there are people who feel proud to be giving away expensive gifts and subsequently receive praises for being extravagant and generous. There’s nothing wrong with this of course if given heartily and you didn’t borrow money from loan sharks but I don’t like the idea of being ridiculed for giving away cheap gifts.

Unfortunately, I see rude people everywhere and I’m hoping their rudeness have NOT rubbed off on me yet.

01 – Birthday Card

I thought to feature SOME cards I’ve received. Cards may include postcards, greeting cards, holiday cards, whatever.

One of my favorite hang-out place is actually NATIONAL BOOKSTORE and while prancing around the place, I saw this card and loved it so much that I bought it immediately. Then I brought it to work and asked friends to sign their birthday greetings to me on this card. Yes, I spearheaded my own birthday greetings because I don’t want them to forget to send me greetings. Also because I’m such a very helpful, forceful and nagging woman. :)

I love this card because inside it says…

“Happy Birthday from our little group, strange and wonderful as it may be.”

Can you read the people’s greetings??? One of my friends joked that “I hope you will be using ORIGINAL already instead of VIBRATOR”. For the record, I don’t have a vibrator. At least not anymore. Nyahahaha.

Cadeau Voor Mij

Friends at work gave me 430 pesos cash (7.5 Euro) and told me to buy a gift for myself. Since I’ve been eyeing this baking dish of late, I decided to buy it with their money and had it giftwrapped afterwards. Going to open the gift I bought for me on my actual birth date… Nyahaha :)

presents

I’m actually not so looking forward to this Friday because I’ll be hitting 30s already when my mindset is still at 22 but mentally challenged aside, I’m happy to be alive with friends and family. Thank you Lord for all the gifts and graces!

Men in Kite

With my one large suitcase now weighing 30 Kilogram, I need to get another suitcase to even out the weight because anything in excess of 30 kg will be sent via freight or cargo according to KLM’s baggage rules.

But my mom doesn’t seem to be concern about any rules because every night when I came home from work, she always parade around her latest gifts for Raidon and my sister.

Last night were the kites.

It’s actually my sister’s boyfriend’s stepfather’s request but I thought it’s a splendid idea to see three men (grandfather, father and son) playing kites together. These three men aren’t related by blood but they are bonded together nevertheless by love which through life’s circumstances, has brought them together.

So anyway, after saying the magic word “RAIDON” and how Raidon would love to play kites with his father and his grandfather, mom went off to Colon street to buy 3 big kites with a spiderman design as her main priority because my only nephew is currently on his spiderman phase.

Kite costs 80 pesos (1.3 euro) each after mom haggled it down from 100 pesos (1.5 euro).

Now, if only it will all fit inside the luggage without breaking the wires.  Uhm, that’s a frying pan, brooms and other Filipino stuff that my sister have requested.
