Seal Line from R.O.X.

I’m going to be away on a 5-day trip soon with 5 women (no penises involved unfortunately) and itinerary includes crossing an open sea in a teeny weeny boat. I don’t want my precious camera to get ruined by sea water especially since I haven’t even started paying for it yet through my credit card’s installment plan so I bought this waterproof bag from Seal Line at R.O.X in Ayala. This bag cost me about 1500 pesos or 28 Euro.

I’ve tested this bag at home already and it’s tightly sealed alright so I’m confident that my camera will be safe and sound for the duration of our boating adventure.

I find the R.O.X. paperbag interesting because it’s loaded with guide and pocket reference for the outdoor adventure such as First Aid Kit, 10 Outdoor Essentials, Trail signs and so on. It even includes a nice tip of how to poop in the woods:

Choose a site at least 200 feet (60m) away from water sources, trails, and campsites. If it is easy for you to reach the site, then it will be for others too! When finished, tamp soil down and scatter with vegetation to create a natural appearance. Pack out toilet paper.

Too bad the paper bag doesn’t include tips on where to find materials for cleaning our asses afterwards.  But I’m sure I could ask mom because back when she was still a kid, they don’t have the luxury of proper toilet facility so she always do this pooping in the woods and uses plants leaves as toilet paper.  Yikes!

Breast, Where are YOU?

I was window shopping once when I chanced upon a lovely black dress. I asked the sales lady if I could try it on and she agreed. After a few minutes, I glumly gave the dress back to her.

Sales lady: How was the dress maam?
Me: The dress was gorgeous. But I forgot that I do not have the breast to go with it.
Sales lady: (After looking at my chest) You are right.  You need a bra that comes with a foam.
Me: (Talking to myself) The sales lady is soooooo mean!

Bamboo Shoot-Out

Weekends as I said is usually spent with mom on a walkathon as she go from one casket customer to another for payment collections. I enjoy this activity because it allows me to meet other people and see interesting things. Otherwise, it will mostly be just work, home and the road for me which I find depressing.

So one weekend, I was in Guadalupe, a small barangay that I have never been for the last 8 years. I used to call Guadalupe as home until 2003. Anyway, while mom was busy talking with her customers, I had a great time watching the kids getting creative with the help of a bamboo and wet paper.

Luthang is a popper gun made of bamboo. Children saw a bamboo and made a hole into it. Then they use wet paper that they picked from garbage, drive this paper inside the bamboo with a stick using enough force to make it pop out. I’ve never played luthang when I was a kid but I love seeing children playing outside and interacting with others instead of being at home playing computer games. Seeing the kids reminded me of my childhood. I was LUCKY not to have a computer or television when I was young because I enjoyed playing japanese game, patintero, tubig-tubig, chinese garter and other simple games with other kids in our neighborhood and my siblings.

I miss my childhood.

Check out pictures and videos for the kids playing luthang war.

Cebu’s Chorizo Dance

Chorizo is one of my favorite sausage and since I like going out with mom on most weekends when she visit her casket customers, I was happy to meet one of them who sells Chorizo. What is Chorizo?

It uses the skin of a pork’s large intestines. They remove all the TA-E (feces), clean it thoroughly and then dry it. I think this is the reason why chorizo tastes so delicious. :)

And then they stuffed the skin with meat. To make a special chorizo, for a 20 kilo of meat, it must have an 8 kilo of lean meat and then 12 kilos of fat. Meat can be a combination of beef and pork. The 20 kilo of meat is then mixed with 6 kilo of sugar, salt, vetsin, onion, pepper. I only learned about the amount of sugar and the proportion of the rest of the spices were probably a trade secret.

After stuffing the skin, it is then tied with a thread to make it look like an intestine again but instead of TA-E, it’s now stuffed with delicious and edible goodies. :)

How they tie the thread fascinates me the first time I saw it in carbon market. It’s as if they were dancing. You’ll have to see the video below to see it for yourself.

Their chorizo costs 25 pesos per 12 round pieces and if you don’t know which stall to buy chorizo from in the chaotic carbon market, check out their Stall #51. I was told that even the late Fernando Poe, Jr ordered from them and they also supply to the different foodcourt stalls in SM City Cebu.

Metro’s VS MEN – For Trimming Unwanted Hair

Being too much of a cheapskate is not good if I’m sacrificing my comfort and dignity so with this conclusion, I decided to replace my old National’s ES7015 hair trimmer which was a gift from an aunt in Japan. It has been with me for about 10 years and I believed it has done its full service already and deserved a retirement.

I’ve been wondering around SM City Cebu  in search of a  hair trimmer for women and I can’t find it anywhere. A sales lady pointed Metro’s hair trimmer and even though it’s for men, she said that it works just the same. I suppose a machine can’t point the difference between female hair and male hair.  After all, the National’s ES7015 was originally a gift for my father.  Nyahaha.  Anyway, this hair trimmer cost 2,599.75 pesos (47 Euro) but since it was on 10% sale, I ended up paying 2339.8 pesos only. Aside from the price (I really thought that hair trimmers cost 6000 pesos up), the nice thing about Metro’s VS Men is that it comes with 2 years warranty. HA! We’ll see.

So, what is my opinion of this product? This rechargeable cordless hair trimmer is light on the hand and it comes with different types of interchangeable trimming attachments, combing guides, cleaning brush and even lubricating oil to help keep the blades in good shape. Instruction manual doesn’t really specify hairs in the armpit, legs and groins area but I guess they belonged to the classification of “body hair” so immediately after coming home, I trimmed the bushy hair below because I love it when it’s semi-bald. Nyahaha. Precision trimmer, detail trimmer and full size trimmer works great but I don’t like the foil shaver for that so called smooth results and rotary blade for trimming nose, ear and eyebrows. It doesn’t give me a smooth legs really and I’m still stuck with plucking my eyebrows. Ouch!

Will I recommend this product to others? Sure. I’m happy with some of the trimmers and beggars can’t be choosers really because there aren’t much option available in the local market as of the moment. Happy trimming!
