Love Triangle of the Year – Goodbye Facebook

I’ve deactivated my facebook account for the nth time and I got a feeling it’s going to remain deactivated for quite a long time if not forever. WHY?

There was a shooting news last month in one of the malls in the country that got a bit of media attention due to the circumstances of death. It turned out that 13 year old boy shot his 16 year old boyfriend in the head due to jealousy with another guy before shooting his own head too.

Is this THE love triangle of the year or what?

I read this in the news but didn’t really give much attention to it until I received an email with pictures of the minors involved that were taken from Facebook. People could be a bit cruel sometimes with their side commentaries and all that which is really their business anyway except that it made me realized that I don’t want to have an active Facebook account when I’ll die. And since I don’t know exactly when I’ll die, I’ve had my facebook deactivated in advance.

I know! I’m weird that way.

Speaking of being an internet addict, one of the news I’ve read is that text and internet addict people are more prone to getting HIV / Aids. You can read about this juicy piece of news in detail from Yahoo Philippines.

I didn’t realize that there are people who are into casual sex with multiple partners which were previously arranged via text messages and internet.  I guess some might find this exciting perhaps but considering the consequences, are you really willing to take the risk?

But then again, young people seem to have this feeling of being an “immortal” and that all this talk about HIV and other problems are nothing but media / religious hype.

At least until they get sick and die.

And when they do, I wonder if they will ever say or think…

I wish I had a relationship with my hand instead!

Fire Award

This is the second “blog award” I received and both coming from one of my top blog commenters, Unikorna.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t quite glued to the internet when I was notified about my first award so hopefully I’ll be able to do justice with the second one. It’s never too late after all until we give our last breath.

So what’s this blog tagging award all about? My perception is that keywords and links are one of the prime commodities among bloggers. The more links that point to your site and the more prized keywords you use that will result to having your site at the top hit list in most search engines, the happier a site owner would be. Unfortunately, I have a lazy butt laid-back personality so I’d like to take it slow and enjoy the journey rather than working my ass off on something and ended up stressed when I reach that certain goal.

Of course there are exemptions to this rule.

Currently doing this blog tagging award thing because I like the uniqueness that is Unikorna and I’m game to just about anything that will help me come up with something to post for the day.

For this fire award, the rules are to write 5 unknown things about myself and then pass it on to other 5 bloggers with all the necessary links of course.  And the 5 very lucky bloggers that will be the recipient of my links are… (drum roll please)

1. Regina from regzandherhappypills. After blog hopping one time, she landed on my site and it was love and first site for her. How could you not love someone back who subscribed to your blog first without expecting something in return?

2. Raymund from AngSarap. Ever since I started cooking, I have taken to eyeing the details of all his food posts in hopes of picking up some ideas that I could apply in my cooking too.

3. Nava of Nava-k. Not only she accepts my guest post work but is also one of my top commenters. I hope to have traveled as much as she did and be a great cook also when I reached her age.

4. Jamie of Jbcultureshock. I’m her first guest blogger if I’m not mistaken and I hope she enjoys her journey with wordpress more than she ever did with blogspot.

5. Bleaucheval of HappySole. She’s a Filipino and she loves to travel too. It was interesting to see glimpses of the United States of A from her blog.

If you noticed, I did not include my sister in my 5 lucky bloggers because she’s a recipient of Fire award already and I think that the spot should be shared with other bloggers instead.

What should these 5 lucky bloggers do in return? They could make a post of fire awards and name their own 5 lucky bloggers too or do nothing about it. I believe in free will and I try not to let anyone dance to my own tune.

So, 5 unknown things about myself which might not be quite unknown for those who really knew me well but here goes:

1. I don’t know how to gargle and I am not interested to learn how.

2. I love amazing race reality show. It’s the only show that I bother to check for schedule at AXN Asia website.

3. I love having straight rebonded hair because hair always look nice even though I don’t comb or wash it.

4. I have a driver’s license but I don’t know how to drive nor am I interested in driving any vehicle. I hate paying fuel bills, maintenance bill and insurance bill. I’m happy getting in all sorts of public transport except taxi as it’s expensive.

5. I love castles and Japanese anime.  I hope to see England and Japan someday.

Digitally Scraped

Guess what I found out today? A copy and paste work of my turbo broiler post. Although the title shows Love 2 Type but owner could have at least linked it to my own site.  I would have been much happier then.

copy cat

Coming from a third world country where piracy is rampant, I have no problem with this due to the following reasons:

1.Some people simply get off by copying others and I’m not one to cut off their happiness.

2.In school, nobody likes to copy assignments from people who aren’t that smart so I take this as a complement. FINALLY, someone is copying from ME! Yippee.

3.What could I possibly do when big companies can’t even stop their own product from being pirated?

I’ve noticed several wordpress blogs that are sort of protected from text and image copy but this involves purchasing a host and domain which cost anywhere from 30 – 100 USD per year.  This is something I don’t want to be involved with yet considering the limited hits I get per day. Besides, I tried this once using godaddy and I felt a bit trapped because virtual prices of your domain alone increases with time. I think I prefer being under the wing of wordpress.com with subscription that says: never expires.

Anyway, thank you scrapers for spreading the “Love 2 Type” word.

I Miss BlogSpot

It’s been 2 months since I’ve abandoned Google’s Blogspot and migrated to WordPress.com for the simple reason that I don’t want any officemates to be reading my posts. That includes my boss. And since Blogspot is very user-friendly, everyone in the office uses it. I, however, beg to differ.

It was fun learning my way around WordPress for the first few weeks. It kept me happily preoccupied like a child would when there’s a new toy to play with. After awhile, I find myself comparing the differences between these two FREE blog publishing site.

Here’s what I missed about Google’s Blogspot.

1. Domain Branding. For as low as 10 USD, I could have my own domain already while still being hosted by Google. At WordPress, I have to pay 17 USD for domain AND “Domain MAPPING” while still being hosted by WordPress.com.

2. Font Options. I have the options of about 5 Fonts and sizes are customizable with Blogspot. This option is for sale in WordPress PER YEAR.

3. HTML flexibility. With Blogspot, I can add unlimited third-party html codes. This is strictly regulated in WordPress. I can’t even put the Paypal donation codes, Facebook plug-ins, etc.

4. Themes. It’s easy to change and customize themes and there are so many choices to choose from aside from Blogspot’s featured themes.  This is just not possible with WordPress.com.

blogger

I’m sure there are more differences between the two but these are what I missed most. A flexible wordpress is possible with wordpress.org but you need to find a host and a domain to use it which is too much trouble and costly for me. I try to remind myself that content is more important over physical appearances but wouldn’t it be nice to have as much control over the content AND the physical aspects of your blog?

You might ask why I am still blogging via WordPress. Well, I’ve been asking the same question myself for a month now.
